In the early years the leagues provided things like newspapers, chocolates, sweets, flowers and vases, water jugs and curtains for the wards. In recent years the leagues have donated much bigger items, including thousands of pounds worth of medical equipment and they’ve funded room refurbishments for patients. The leagues also support special appeals when public funds are not immediately available.
The Scunthorpe League of Friends supplements the service provided by the Scunthorpe General Hospital for health, welfare and comfort of the patients by the provision of facilities, which may be required for the treatment of patients and also provides or assists in the provision of amenities for patients and staff.
