Scunthorpe Hospital League of Friends . . .

. . . a voluntary organisation that is as vibrant and active today as it was when founded back in 1948.

The intervening years have seen this organisation accomplish a multitude of fund-raising activities and also receive legacies and donations from the public enabling them to provide a huge support network to the local Scunthorpe Hospital.

The Scunthorpe League of Friends supplements the service provided by the Scunthorpe General Hospital for health, welfare and comfort of the patients, and works closely with The Health Tree Foundation and the NHS Foundation Trust.

Ward Request

We work closely with all the Ward Managers throughout the hospital. If you are a ward manager or member of staff and have a request for help, please download our ward request form and give it to your League of Friends representative, we will do our best to help you out!

Monies raised have enabled the League of Friends to donate many items of medical equipment and even to fund room refurbishments for patients. Recent donations have enabled The League of Friends to provide:-

  • Cheese & wine evenings
  • Race nights
  • Craft fairs
  • Car boot sales
  • Raffles

  • 2 Ear Nose and Throat Endoscopes
  • Blanket warmer for new born babies with abnormal low body temperature
  • Vital signs monitors for temperature, blood pressure and saturation levels
  • Shower tray for Disney patients with special needs
  • Child friendly saw for the plaster room
  • Bladder scanner
  • ECG machine
  • Gifts of Children’s toys for Christmas Eve Patients
